Manager's note: A couple of months after we launched, we started noticing large numbers of terrible reviews, not just of the food, but of the service, the setting, the manners of our wait staff, evidence of rodent infestation - you name it. The names used were made up and we couldn't trace the origins, but we suspected it was a competitor, who we will not name. But we felt the real culprit was Google, who was permitting these fake reviews to rank in searches for our name. We really needed to discover how to remove Google search results because they were harming our reputation. But we were unable to contact Google, but when we got our attorney involved it all went away, even though they claimed they never filed a suit or even a complaint. One of our marketing consultants explained that this apparent attack via Google's search results was not uncommon and that many others suffered much worse - this post demonstrates how Google can destroy your reputation with zero accountability. While we continue to reap great reviews, we still remember this incident with horror and if it had continued, we might not have survived as long as we did. There are obviously some hazards that come with the benefits of the internet.
Customer Reviews
Food and service was amazing
My husband and I were in town last week and ate at your restaurant for the first time!! Food was excellent!! Our server Mikey Moves was beyond attentive. It felt like he went out of his way to make sure our experience was one of a kind. It really was a great dinner and we will for sure be back next time we come to town!
Great Happy Hour
My Husband and I enjoyed a great Happy Hour at Lombardo's last Saturday night. The jazz duo was wonderful. Both Meche and Lisa were attentive, knowledgeable bartenders. Looking forward to a return visit!
One of the better places in Myrtle Beach
I don't usually do reviews, but I'd like to recommend this place for dinner. First of all, the atmosphere was very welcoming. They had it decorated beautifully for the Christmas season. Very festive and inviting. All of the personnel was friendly and helpful. Our server, Mikey, was attentive and efficient, but, not obtrusive. He also didn't have to refer to a cheat sheet to know what was on special that evening. I went with a group of seven women and each of us had a delicious meal. I had the peach and pecan salmon. It was cooked to perfection. The reasons I didn't give five stars is because I wasn't crazy about the Alfredo sauce on my pasta and the champagne splits were not chilled enough for my taste. If I could give 4 1/2 stars I would. I'll definitely go back with my husband and recommend it to my friends.
Great Experience

Had dinner last night at Lombardo's. We all enjoyed our meals from appetizers to soup & salads and entrees. Everything was prepared perfectly & our waiter, Mark, helped make the evening most enjoyable. We will definitely visit the restaurant again.
Back for more!
This is the third time we have dines here, and the third time we have been just blown away! Greeted and seated promptly, our waiter (Mark) was attentive but not intrusive, small jazz combo playing not too loudly, and the food was exceptional! Will NOT travel to Myrtle Beach without dinner here any longer!

Our Bartender Meche did a great job!! She did a great job providing us with excellent service and timely and entertaining conversation.
Authentic and Delicious
My first dining experience at Lombardo's will not be my last. Nice atmosphere, and reasonable prices for for great authentic Italian food. Allie provided prompt and attentive service for our table of six. We were pleased with everything we ordered (drinks included). Convenient and easy to find location is also nice.
Nice place for dinner
Our dining experience at Lombardo's was very good. Everything starts with a first impression and the staff immediately made us feel welcome and comfortable upon our arrival and being seated. We ordered shrimp scampi over linguini and sea bass. Both dishes were excellent. The portions were large, especially the sea bass which was about 8 ounces and prepared perfectly. The salad was fresh and pretty large for a side salad. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. We will return the next time in Myrtle Beach.
Motto Bene
Had a birthday celebration.....and it ROCKED from service (Adam and Tim were awesome).
Food was amazing and it will be on our list of favorites
Really Good!
This is my favorite Italian restaurant in Myrtle Beach. Been there several times on a Saturday
Night. The food is very good. Authentic Italian dishes! Always good service. Love the atmosphere and table settings. Very romantic with the Jazz Band on Saturday Night. It is fun to set at high tables and listen to the band! Owners come to table and welcome you and truly want to know if you are enjoying your meal! I have been to several Italian Restaurants in Myrtle Beach and most are good. This by far is my favorite!

Come and dine the way the Lombardo family has for generations with authentic family recipes.

More Background On Lombardo’s Italian Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Lombardo’s Italian Restaurant stood as one of the city’s most charming and memorable dining experiences. Known for its romantic atmosphere, authentic Italian dishes, and warm, family-style hospitality, Lombardo’s was both a culinary destination and a reflection of the region’s passion for great food and genuine connection. For years, the restaurant’s reputation for excellence attracted tourists and locals alike, making it one of the most recommended Italian spots along the Grand Strand.
Ownership and Philosophy
Lombardo’s was the creation of Chef John Lombardo, a restaurateur with deep Italian roots and a lifelong devotion to his family’s recipes. The restaurant operated under Lombardo’s Restaurant LLC, and it was a true family-run business — one that embodied the authenticity of Italian dining traditions. Lombardo’s philosophy centered around one key idea: “Bring the same recipes my family has enjoyed for over 50 years.”
Chef Lombardo’s culinary foundation came from his grandparents, Frank and Delta Lombardo, who instilled in him a respect for traditional cooking methods and quality ingredients. After training under experienced Italian cooks, Lombardo brought those lessons to Myrtle Beach, combining rustic Italian flavors with coastal Carolina freshness.
Location and Ambiance
Lombardo’s Italian Restaurant was located at 7604 North Kings Highway, one of the most recognizable stretches of Myrtle Beach’s dining corridor. Despite being surrounded by a multitude of restaurants, Lombardo’s stood out as a hidden gem — an intimate venue with an elegant yet comfortable aesthetic.
The interior design reflected Italian sensibilities with a touch of Southern warmth. Patrons often noted the white linen tablecloths, rich mahogany woodwork, and soft, earth-toned lighting that created a cozy and romantic atmosphere. Whether it was a date night, a family dinner, or a casual happy hour with friends, Lombardo’s offered a versatile setting that balanced sophistication with relaxation.
Menu and Culinary Highlights
Lombardo’s menu was celebrated for its range and authenticity. It featured both beloved Italian classics and inventive dishes inspired by regional traditions from Tuscany, Sicily, and Naples. Every item was prepared from scratch, and Chef Lombardo often visited tables personally to ensure guests were delighted.
Appetizers and Starters
Guests began their dining experience with classic Italian antipasti such as Mozzarella Caprese, Steamed Mussels, Eggplant Rollatini, and Grappa Shrimp Scampi. The Arancini — lightly fried risotto balls stuffed with sausage, roasted peppers, and mozzarella — became one of the most requested starters. Another crowd favorite was the Lombardo’s Oysters Rockefeller, a Southern twist on an Italian seafood preparation, topped with a three-cheese spinach blend.
Chef’s Specialties
Signature dishes included the restaurant’s multi-course Lombardo’s Feast, which came in several versions, offering combinations of chicken, veal, manicotti, and steak Marsala. The Chicken Scarpiello, sautéed with sausage, capers, pepperoncini, and black olives in white wine, showcased the restaurant’s ability to balance savory, tangy, and spicy elements with finesse.
Other standout entrées included Filet Mignon with Cabernet Reduction, Pork Osso Buco over Parmesan Risotto, and the indulgent Lombardo’s Stack — a layered plate featuring filet mignon, crab cake, and jumbo shrimp.
Seafood and Pasta
Drawing from Myrtle Beach’s proximity to the Atlantic, Lombardo’s offered a seafood menu that rivaled the city’s best. Linguine with Clam Sauce, Lombardo’s Cioppino, and Grouper Florentine were praised for their freshness and balanced flavors. The Maple Glazed Salmon with Peaches and Pecans in a Brown Sugar Bourbon Cream Sauce was a uniquely Southern-Italian fusion that became a signature dish.
The pasta selection offered something for everyone: Fettuccine Alfredo, Lobster Ravioli, Penne alla Vodka, and the house Lasagna, layered with ricotta, beef, sausage, and marinara. Diners could customize their pasta with additions like chicken or shrimp, a nod to both flexibility and family-style dining.
Salads and Sides
Lombardo’s salads were more than just accompaniments — they were meals in their own right. Highlights included the Almond-Encrusted Goat Cheese Salad and the Poached Lobster Salad with tortellini, roasted tomatoes, and basil pesto vinaigrette. Every entrée came with soup or salad, reflecting the restaurant’s commitment to value and completeness.
Service and Experience
Customer reviews consistently praised Lombardo’s for its attentive service and personable staff. Servers like Mark, Mikey, Lisa, and Meche were frequently mentioned by name in online reviews for their warmth, professionalism, and deep menu knowledge. Guests often described the experience as “feeling like family,” which reinforced the restaurant’s reputation for hospitality.
Saturday nights were particularly memorable, featuring live jazz duos that elevated the restaurant’s already-romantic mood. Many guests considered the combination of fine dining and live music one of Lombardo’s most charming features.
Reviews and Reputation
Throughout the 2010s, Lombardo’s earned glowing reviews on platforms such as Yelp, TripAdvisor, and OpenTable. Diners described it as “the best Italian restaurant in Myrtle Beach” and “a place you must visit every trip.” Common praises included the impeccable food presentation, consistency, and the personal attention of Chef Lombardo himself.
However, the restaurant also endured a difficult period when it became the target of a reputation attack — a flood of false negative reviews accusing it of poor food and conditions. The owner suspected a competitor’s involvement, though no names were mentioned publicly. Despite the stress of this incident, the restaurant persevered after consulting legal counsel and marketing professionals who helped mitigate the issue. This episode highlighted both the vulnerability and resilience of small, family-run businesses in the age of online review platforms.
Ultimately, Lombardo’s reputation rebounded, and its loyal patrons continued to champion it as one of the finest examples of local Italian cuisine on the Grand Strand.
Catering and Private Events
Beyond its main dining room, Lombardo’s provided catering and special event hosting, positioning itself as a go-to venue for weddings, family reunions, graduation parties, and business dinners. The restaurant handled every detail — from linens and floral arrangements to DJs, photographers, and portable dance floors — ensuring guests could simply relax and celebrate.
The catering menu mirrored the in-house offerings, maintaining the same level of freshness and quality. Many residents of Myrtle Beach fondly recall Lombardo’s catering their milestone events, describing the food as “restaurant-level in every bite.”
Community Connection and Cultural Impact
Lombardo’s was more than a restaurant; it was part of Myrtle Beach’s cultural fabric. Italian cuisine has long held a special place in South Carolina’s coastal communities, where locals value both tradition and togetherness. Lombardo’s embodied these values perfectly.
The restaurant’s presence enriched the area’s dining diversity, giving Myrtle Beach a genuine Italian fine-dining experience without the pretension often found in big-city establishments. Its popularity among vacationers contributed to Myrtle Beach’s reputation as not just a beach destination, but a culinary one as well.
In addition, Chef Lombardo’s commitment to sourcing local seafood and fresh produce aligned the restaurant with the growing movement toward sustainable and regional dining. This combination of authenticity and adaptability kept Lombardo’s relevant in an evolving culinary landscape.
Press and Media Coverage
During its peak years (2013–2016), Lombardo’s was featured in several local lifestyle magazines and food blogs, often highlighted for its romantic atmosphere and high-quality menu. It appeared in Myrtle Beach dining guides and was frequently listed among the top-rated Italian restaurants on the Grand Strand.
Food critics praised the restaurant’s attention to detail, consistency, and ability to offer both traditional and contemporary Italian fare. Lombardo’s also received favorable coverage for its live jazz nights, which distinguished it from other Italian eateries in the region.
Legacy and Reflection
Though its original website has since been archived, Lombardo’s remains fondly remembered by locals and past visitors as one of Myrtle Beach’s most authentic dining experiences. Its story — from family recipes and community warmth to surviving digital-era challenges — reflects the broader story of small independent restaurants in America.
Lombardo’s achieved what many strive for but few accomplish: creating a space where food, family, and hospitality intertwine to form lasting memories. Chef John Lombardo’s dedication ensured that every dish, from the simplest spaghetti to the grandest seafood platter, carried a piece of his family’s heritage.
Even today, former patrons continue to reminisce about their evenings at Lombardo’s — the candlelit tables, the soft jazz, the rich aroma of marinara and garlic butter — a sensory tapestry that defined not just a restaurant, but a Myrtle Beach institution.
Lombardo’s Italian Restaurant stood as a testament to what makes dining special: authenticity, passion, and a deep respect for tradition. Through its flavorful menu, heartfelt service, and timeless ambiance, it brought a slice of Italy to South Carolina’s coast — and in doing so, created memories that continue to resonate long after its doors closed.
While Myrtle Beach has no shortage of restaurants, few have managed to capture the heart and soul of Italian dining the way Lombardo’s did. Its legacy remains a reminder of the enduring power of family recipes, hard work, and the simple joy of gathering around a table to share a meal made with love.
